The client owned a single residential block with strong location appeal and recognised its potential to be subdivided into two separate lots. The intention was to create two completely independent, freestanding homes that would perform strongly in the market, either through resale or as low maintenance, high quality rental properties.

The block itself presented an immediate challenge. The site featured a noticeable slope across its width, which ruled out a simple, flat build solution. Rather than forcing a standard design onto the land, the project required a builder with the experience to work with the natural contours of the site and unlock its full potential through intelligent planning and construction.

Due to the slope of the site, the entry foyer sits slightly lower than the main living zone. A short internal transition of seven steps gently leads up into the open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Rather than being a limitation, this level change adds character and creates a subtle separation between the entry and the main living spaces.

The open plan living area forms the heart of the home. Generous glazing allows natural light to fill the space while maintaining privacy, and the direct connection to the covered alfresco extends the living area outdoors.
